Guinea pig is actually a type of rodents. Its native place is South Africa and it is also the type of domestic animal. Guinea pig is living in the world more than 10,000 years. Some people were keeping Guinea pig as their pets.

Facts of Guinea pigs

  1. The Guinness World record for Guinea pig’s maximum age is 15 years.
  2. There are 258 bones in the Guinea pig body.
  3. They grows up to 8-10 inches long and weigh up to 2.5 pounds.
  4. Most eatable food of guinea pig is grass and hay.
  5. Guinea pigs are pure vegetarian, they never get bored to eat every time.
  6. Female guinea pig gives birth to young one within 70 days.
  7. Baby guinea pigs are called pups.
  8. They can able to lay 4 pups.
  9. Some South American people eats guinea pig as their favorite food.
  10. After the birth, young pups can able to run within 3 hours.
  11. Maximum life span of guinea pig is up to 8 years.
  12. They don’t have tails.
  13. Guinea pig has a very good sense of smell and sensitive hearing.
  14. They can able to swim as the dog.
  15. There are only 9 different species of Guinea pigs in the world.
  16. If the guinea pig feels happy, its start to jumping up and down it is called as popcorn.
  17. Guinea pig has 5 different types of hairs, which make them more beautiful.
  18. The special talent of this species is that they can able to eat solid foods when they are born.
  19. They can jump maximum height up to 12 inches.
  20. Guinea pigs maximum body temperature is 101.5 -103 degrees Fahrenheit.
  21. The male guinea pigs are called as boars and females as sows.
  22. They likes to run and play with its owner, they are so playful.
